Line Locating Training

Before the advent of safety standards and the understanding of cost effective measures, companies called upon line locators primarily to locate a known buried facility.  It was presumed acceptable to merely take the risk of hitting a buried facility, causing not only damage to the buried facility, but possible trauma or death to personnel involved, rather than going to the expense and time of having a qualified, competent locator accurately mark the dig location.

Thankfully regulations have been changed in the ground disturbance industry.

It is no longer acceptable to hit any underground facility due to negligence, under-qualified personnel, or deadline restrictions.

Everyone involved in each excavating project is as responsible as the next. From the person contracting the line locator, to the excavation operator; all are equally as responsible for ensuring a safe locate is accomplished, and due diligence is observed.

Each excavation project requires accuracy and planning. Whether a billion dollar construction site, or a backyard home renovation, all necessary calculations are needed in order to ensure a personally and economically SAFE ground disturbance project is performed.

EMLOC offers a two-day basic line locating course (BPFII) for individuals interested in becoming a locate technician, and a one-day ticket renewal course (BPF) for previously trained line locate technicians.

Our BPFII course involves some physical exertion/exercise on the part of the students.  If you have a medical condition that may be aggravated by exertion/exercise and/or cold/hot weather conditions, it is highly recommended that you consult with your physician before participating in this program.
